• 中文摘要： 光調變器（SLM）是光信號處理及光計算應用上最主要之元件。現今已有多種光調變器被設計和製造出來。在本文中，我們審視一些型態的光調變器並討論它們的特性及基本操作，此外亦指出這些光調變器在光信號處理及光計算上的重要應用。最後，我們則討論光調變器重要的發展方向（尤其針對台灣工業而言）和它在其它方面的應用。
• 英文摘要： Spatial light modulators (SLMs) are essential components in optical signal processing and computing.Many types of SLMs have been designed and built. In this paper, we survey several types of SLMs anddiscuss their characteristics and basic operations. The important applications of these SLMs in opticalsignal processing and computing are also highlighted. Finally, we discuss the key development directions(especially in Taiwan) for SLMs and their implications.
