• 英文摘要： In order to develop the production and application of cholesterol oxidase for clinical assay, a cholesterol assimilating bacterium which produces a remarkable amount of extracellular cholesterol oxidase has been isolated from Taiwan soil. The taxonomical characteristics of this newly isolated bacterium were examined and it was identified as Arthrobacter simplex B-7. The main oxidation product of cholesterol in the culture broth was recovered and crystallized. It was identified by thin-layer and gas-liquid chromatographies, ir and uv spectra, and melting point as cholest-4-en-3-one.
