- 英文摘要: The research examined the kinetics of methane formation from lactose using a defined mixed culture consisting of homolactic, homoacetic, and methanogenic bacteria. This process is limited primarily by the methanogenic step. We developed mathematical models to simulate this mixed culture fermentation in batch and in continuous, completely mixed, anaerobic filters. The results from the model simulation agree well with the general knowledge about anaerobic digestion. The results show that a balanced seeding culture is important to reactor start-up, and that the culture from a steady-state reactor may not be appropriate as seed for a new reactor. Reactor start-up requires a larger population ratio among different groups of bacteria. The results also suggest that a simple, well-defined culture will be suitable, and perhaps better, for anaerobic digestion of a specific waste stream such as whey. This mixed culture performs more effectively in a two-phase process with lactate as the intermediary product.
