Fluid flow through multiparticle systems is investigated by making use
of cell models. A regular perturbation technique is employed to solve the Navier-
Stokes equation with three different sets of boundary conditions, wherein a new
computational scheme is presented. This scheme uses the method of variation of
parameters due to Lagrange to compute functions of radius numerically.
Friction factors are computed and compared with the Ergun relation, and it
is found that when the computation is extended from O(Rs2) to O(Rs4) where O
stands for the order, better results are obtainable in the range of 0.3<ε<0.7
and 30number increases.
Although the analysis was not continued to higher order than O(Rs4), the
present computational scheme will make it tractable to extend the approximation
