• 中文摘要： In this study, we investigated the perception of nasality in Taiwan Min syllables: whether the perceptual prominence is located at the first or last part of the syllable. We used a perceptual experiment for this purpose. The syllables types [ta, pi, pe] and their nasal counterparts were used in three tones [55, 33, 21], making up a total of 18 syllables. These syllables were each made into l0 tokens. Nine of the tokens were separately replaced with various fractions of the nasal or oral counterparts. These stimuli were submitted to the subjects for perceptual judgment. The subjects indicated whether the syllable they heard was an oral or a nasal syllable. The results showed that the subjects sought nasal cues mainly at the end of a syllable. Tonal differences were not found to have a significant impact on judgment, but vowel differences were found to be rather significant. We were surprised to find that the vowel [a] tended to be judged as nasal later than [i] and [e]. We surmise that this is the result of overcompensation.
• 英文摘要： 本研究探討臺閩語音節中的鼻音感知：到底鼻音的感知是以元音的前部或後部為主。我們以一個聽覺感知實驗來探討這個問題。我們採用了 [ta, pi, pe] 三個音節以及其相對的鼻音音節[tã, p , p ]分別以三個聲調 [55, 33, 21]共造成了十八個音節。每個音節複製成十個，其中九個以其相對的鼻元音或非鼻元音做十等分的取代。譬如，[ta55]的音節元音的最後十分之一由[tã55]的最後十分之一取代，做為一個刺激項，而最後十分之二由[tã55]的 最後十分之二取代等。總共造成了180個測試刺激項。 另外加入72個控制項，總共252個刺激項讓受試者聽，請受試者從兩個選項中選擇他們認為聽到什麼音。測試題兩個選項其中一個選項是鼻元音音節，另一個是口元音音節。實驗的結果發現受試者主要以元音後部的鼻音性來決定音節的鼻音性。聲調差別並不顯著，可是元音的差別卻顯示有顯著差別。同時我們發現受試者也以鼻音的有無作為判斷的依據，因此也印證鼻音做為有標徵性的特性。另外我們也發現低元音 [a]較晚被判定為鼻音音節，我們認為可能是過度補償的結果。
