A distributed feedback control law is derived for the tubular processes with
axial diffusion by the application of dynamic programming. The control is spatial
independent, the state variable must be measured at every position, multiplied by
optimal gain, and then integrated over spatial coordinate to generate the optimal
control. The optimal gain can be precalculated by solving a Riccati-like equation.
The physical significance of the feedback control law is studied in detail for the
