• 中文摘要： 本文的主題是戰後台灣的儒家思想的發展。關於戰後台灣儒家思想的發展，必須從兩個角度來觀察：（1）戰後台灣的學術精英對儒家思想的研究可以分為哪些主流？這些流派所關心的問題意識是什麼？他們各有哪些主要的研究論著？（2）儒家的價值規範透過哪些管道而在戰後的台灣社會中傳播？以上這兩類問題，第一類所觸及的是儒家傳統在上層社會的發展，尤其扣緊知識階層對儒家價值系統的再詮釋；第二類問題則是想探討儒家價值規範在台灣民問社會的傳播方式及其影響。本文即扣緊這兩個問題進行分析。本文第一節首先指出：戰後台灣的儒家學者研究儒學有二大特徵：（1）以儒學研究為安身立命之處所；（2）以中國大陸之變局為其關懷之重心。本文第二節指出：戰後台灣的學者研究儒家思想取徑互有不同，可大別為三派：1.歷史學的研究途徑；2.哲學的研究途徑；3.社會科學的研究途徑。三者各有短長，瑕瑜互見。本文最後一節指出：儒家價值規範在戰後台灣的傳播，主要經由兩種管道，第一是官方機構（如中華文化復興運動委員會）所推動，透過學校教育體系、官方出版品以及由上而下的社會運動，而將儒家價值觀念向民間社會傳播。第二種管道則是台灣社會的鸞堂及廟宇所流行的善書。這些善書的價值內涵雖然是以輪迴等民間宗教觀念為主，但也部分地夾帶了傳統儒家的價值觀念，可以視為另一種傳播儒家價值的方式。這兩種傳播方式所傳達的儒家價值內容頗有不同，前者以「大傳統」中的價值觀念為主，推動者多半是政府高層官員或學者；後者則以「小傳統」中的價值規範為主，推動者多是地方上的鄉紳或民間中下層的知識分子。
• 英文摘要： This essay studies the development of Confucianism in postwar Taiwan in three parts:section I outlines the characteristics of the study of Confucianism in postwar Taiwan; sectionII is a critical assessment of the methodologies employed by postwar Taiwan Confucian scholars;and section III reviews the propagation of Confucian ideals in Taiwan society. Two characteristics of postwar Taiwan Confucianism are noted: (a) scholars in Taiwan createtheir own identity in Confucianism in light of postwar turbulence; and, (b) they are all con-cerned with the actual situation in mainland China. Those approaches which Taiwan Confucianscholars employ to conduct research include historical, philosophical, and sociological approaches. We can see two channels for the transmission of Confucianism in Taiwan: (1) officialgovernmental propagation through schools, publications, and officially-sponsored social move-ments, and (2) popular propagation through pamphlets (shan shu) issued by "phoenix temples”devoted to folk religion. I note that ideals propagated through official channels differ as muchfrom those through popular channels as does the great tradition of official Confucianism fromthe lesser tradition of grassroots Confucianism.
