The polarization characteristics of the lead-acid battery plates at different
conditions were investigated during discharge. The capacity of the cells and the
efficiency of the plates were measured during charge-discharge cycle test. The
microstructures of the plates at different conditions were compared by means of
microphotography.
The results indicate that the positive plates made from oxide of medium
apparent density and the negative plates made from oxide of low apparent density
have a higher coefficient of use than all the other plates examined. The capacity
of the cell was shown to be directly related to the critical power density of the
battery plates; plates of higher critical power density gave cell of higher capacity.
Over the sulfuric acid concentration range (sp. Gr. 1.06-1.30 at 20.5±5℃) and
operating temperature range (3.0-40.0℃) investigated, the two respective highest
values of the critical power densities of the plates were observed to be occurred at
about 1.20 sp. Gr. (at 20℃) and at about 32℃. - 中文關鍵字: --
